Andrea Sealy

Andrea Sealy was born and raised on the Caribbean island of Barbados. She received her primary and secondary school education there before coming to the US on a track scholarship at Jackson State University in Mississippi. After graduating magna cum laude from Jackson State with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology, Sealy went on to The Pennsylvania State University to pursue a Master of Science degree in the same field. Deciding that she needed another change after completing her M.S., Sealy moved to Washington D.C. to pursue a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science at Howard University, which she completed in May 2006.

Andrea is currently an Advanced Study Program (ASP) Postdoctoral Fellow at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR). Sealy is based in the Terrestrial Sciences Section of the Climate and Global Dynamics Division (TSS/CGD) where she is working on land-atmosphere interactions and their impact on both long term and seasonal Sahel rainfall variability.
