2005 FFP Awardees

The Advanced Study Program’s new Faculty Fellowship Program (FFP) enjoyed its inaugural year in 2005.  Three university faculty were able to visit NCAR for extended visits.  Those faculty include:


Weiqing Han

  Topic: The Indian Ocean Subtropical Cells in CCSM3: Structure, Dynamics and Impact on Interannual-to-Decadal Climate

  Length of Stay: 3 Months
  Students: None
  Participant Comments: “…the FFP indeed served the purpose of building a long-term collaboration between the University and NCAR.”


Lian-Ping Wang

  NCAR Host Division: Mesoscale and Microscale Meteorology Division (MMM) in the Earth and Sun Systems Laboratory (ESSL)
  Topic: Can the Turbulence-Enhanced Collision-Coalescence Explain the Observed Rapid Development of Precipitation in Warm Clouds?

  Length of Stay: 3 Months
  Students: Two Graduate Students for 1 month each
  Participant Comments: “My student just returned to Delaware today. He has done a tremendous amount of work this last month here. He completed his 200-page dissertation and is about ready to defend his PhD dissertation in mid July. I really appreciate the student support as a part of my faculty fellowship appointment.”
