ECSA Travel Funds

Early Career Scientist Assembly FY2008 Travel Funds Program

AVAILABLE FUNDS:

ECSA has approximately $18K available for travel funds for FY2008. At $1,500 per award, this means only 12 awards are available.

We will have 2 calls for $9K each. One in October, and one in January/February to try to space out the money.

PROCEDURE:

Fill out the form (travel_request) and send a hard copy with supervisors signature to Andrew Gettelman (andrew@ucar.edu)

Deadline for first call is 1 November 2007. Second call will be probably 1 February 2008

CRITERIA:

Requests will be ranked on a points system based on current position, cost sharing and other travel. Priority is given to associate and project scientists over scientists, and to those who may not have other travel funds. Funds available for NCAR employees only.

Associate Scientist 1 = 5
Associate Scientist 2 = 4
Associate Scientist 3 = 4
Project Scientist 1 = 4
Project Scientist 2 = 3
Scientist 1 = 3
Scientist 2 = 3
Research Engineer 1 = 3
Research Engineer 2 = 3
ASP Post Doc = 3
Other Post Doc = 4

Add +2 points for cost sharing
Subtract 1 point for each trip taken in the past 12 months
Priority will be given to those who have not received ECSA funding in the last 2 years

Maximum award is $1,500

UPON ACCEPTANCE:

ECSA members who receive ECSA travel support will be required to submit
ONE of the following to the ASP office prior to my signing their travel reimbursement requests:
- a pdf file of the presentation that they made while on travel
- a pdf file of the poster that they presented while on travel
- a detailed trip report, outlining the purpose of their trip and
its impact on their research and/or professional
development (N.B. ALL acronyms need to be defined in
this report).
