2010 Junior Faculty Forum (JFF) on Future Scientific Directions
The Forum will be held at NCAR (National Center for Atmospheric Research) in Boulder, CO during the week of 13 July, 2010. The purpose of the forum is to discuss the future of a scientific topic with a group of Early Career NCAR scientists and Junior Faculty members and to promote collaborations between Scientists at NCAR and the universities.
Organizing a topic for the Junior Faculty Forum is a great opportunity to hold a workshop that is targeted on a research topic of your interest. NCAR's ASP (Advanced Study Program) provides full administrative and logistical support as well as financial support for participants. What is required from topic organizers is help with planning the scientific content of the forum including the selection of invited speakers and other participants.
Please send us a 1-2 paragraph abstract of your suggested topic, and why it is timely to hold such a workshop. In order to ensure significant participation from both the University Community and NCAR, we request that each workshop be co-chaired by a university member and an NCAR researcher.
If you are a University faculty member and are unsure whom you could contact at NCAR to co-chair a potential workshop, let us know and we will try to get you in contact with relevant NCAR scientists.
Please send abstracts to Gabriele Pfister (pfister@ucar.edu) or Andrew Gettelman (andrew@ucar.edu). The deadline is 15 October 2009. We encourage you to contact us if you have questions or ideas and would like to discuss them.
