Annick Pouquet served as editor for the Journal of Computational Physics during the past fiscal year. Other ASP members served as reviewers for journals including Caspar Ammann who provided reviews for Geophysical Research Letters, Journal of Geophysical Research, Journal of Climate, Astrobiology, and NSF Polar Programs and Todd Lane who provided reviews for the Quarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society and Geophysical Research Letters. Postdoctoral Fellow Aimee Norton participated in a NASA TV/Webcast called "The Equinox" in March via live broadcast. Craig Stroud educated people who attended the Boulder Creek Festival through volunteering to serve at the NCAR Science Booth. Jerry Mahlman provided a full science review and critique of the upcoming screen script for a Canadian TV program series on climate change as well as participating in a session with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) officials on improving EPA's role in providing information and guidance on human-caused climate change. Expertise was also provided through service on committees, board and panels. Hatim Sharif served on the Hydrological Information Systems science committee; Caspar Ammann participated in the science advisory group for the new NCAR exhibit "Climate Time Line" as well as serving on the educational advisory board for "Encyclopedia of Paleoclimatology." As a senior research scientist, Jeffrey Anderson served as an advisor on the CLIVAR U.S. Working Group and U.S. THORpex advisory committee regarding plans for observing system experiments. Jerry Mahlman, Senior Research Associate with ASP, served as chair of the International Review Panel of the Meteorological Services of Canada's Climate Research Branch, attended the NOAA Council on Long-Term Climate Monitoring meeting, and served as a member of the jury to select the recipients of the $300,000 Heinz Foundation Environment Award for 2003.
